Adrianna Algieri - Loving Hands Midwifery. I can't say enough about this woman! Amazing, strong, intuitive, supportive-- Adrianna helped me make my homebirth VBAC a reality. "Have it your way" pretty much sums up Adrianna's pregnancy and birth philosophy. I chose the laid-back, relaxed route and that's exactly what I got--prenatal exams under the trees at the park or my house while my girls "examined" her son (he was 2 then) with her stethoscope and doppler. A Loving Start - Licensed midwifery service in the South Florida area. My best friend Christine had her baby with Debra and Mary--the first homebirth I personally witnessed. The experience changed my life. What really made me want a homebirth was the fact that she was 'allowed' to eat ice cream in labor--well, there was definitely more to it than that, but the eating ice cream in labor left quite an impression on me.

La Leche League International is an organization founded in 1956 by seven women who wanted to make breastfeeding easier and more rewarding for both mother and child. The organization offers information and encouragement—primarily through personal help—to those women who want to breastfeed their babies. Jody teaches classes for all levels and for homeschooled children as well as after school for those kids who attend tradtional school. Aid For Orphans - In the Ukraine babies and children are abandoned in the streets and left to die of starvation and/or the elements. In some situations, young single mothers and even couples bring their children to the state-run institutions hoping their children will receive the food and shelter they cannot afford. These state-run orphanages are struggling to survive the Ukrainian transitional economy under the weight of this growing population of abandoned and homeless children. Aid for Orphans was formed by three moms to improve the quality of life and health of these forgotten children.
Artists Helping Children - This is a wonderful non-profit organization dedicated to bringing comfort to children in hospitals, clinics, and shelters by brightening their environment with murals and other art. Please stop by to see what you can do to help.

They are very passionate about helping parents of children with food allergies. West Lake Park Playgroup - Bring your blanket & pack a lunch -- meet like-minded mamas from Dade & Broward Counties here at West Lake Park off Sheridan Street on the South Side just before the bridge to the beach. An extremely eclectic group of moms from all over South Florida gather under the trees to relax, let the kids play, and offer support to one another. No one is ever a 'stranger' at this playgroup-- come one, come all! Every Wednesday (unless it's raining) from 11:00 AM-ish until ??? There are no rules -- some moms arrive early, some as late as 3:00 PM Kids range in age from newborn to 6/7+ years.
